Understanding and Directing the Forces that Shape your Life
We live in a world where most of us live our lives trying to survive the day. We react, life carries us away and we don’t have time for ourselves. We must claim that time take control of our lives if we want to get the ultimate edge.
When we fail we usually think it’s because a lack of resources. Didn’t have enough money, enough time, enough supporters, etc. In reality it’s a lack of resourcefulness. And the ultimate resource is human emotion.
So, success in life (whatever it means to you) is a combination of mastering 2 things:
The Science of Achievement
This is knowing how to get from where you are to where you want to be
The Art of Fulfilment
Feeling the joy during the process. You don’t need to achieve anything in order to feel fulfilled.
Achievement without fulfilment is the ultimate failure.
Tony Robbins
Both achievement and fulfilment depend on our daily actions and psychology. And the actions we’re taking and the psychological strength that we have are the result of our past decisions.
Decisions shape our destiny. And there are 3 decisions that we’re making constantly either consciously or unconsciously:
- What to focus on – Where focus goes energy flows.
- What does it mean – In essence does it mean pain or pleasure?
- What actions to take – Or not take
Our decisions depend on two things: our current state (in the moment) and our blueprint (long term).
Happiness and unhappiness
👉 Take action now!
1. Name one or two areas of your life where you feel happy
2. Why are you happy?
3. Name one or two areas of your life where you don’t feel happy
4. Why aren’t you happy?
There’s a simple formula for both of them:
- We are happy when our current state equals our blueprint
- We are unhappy when they don’t match
There are 3 actions we can take when we feel unhappy:
To blame
An event | others | yourself
Never works, it puts you in a powerless position
To change our current state
Make a real decision and match the blueprint
To change the blueprint
Sometimes the situation can’t be changed or the blueprint is not realistic.
Eg: “I’d be happy if my parents were alive”
