Harnessing the Power of Decision
Power is the ability to act.
That power is already within us, we just have to use the right strategies to wake it up.
Anyone who’s successful at anything has a conscious or unconscious strategy. The may have developed it by trial and error, discover it by chance or intuition, learn it from someone or copy it from a cartoon when they were kids. Good for them, now we can learn how to use those strategies to awake our personal power.
Think of it this way: Success comes from good judgement which comes from experience which comes from bad judgement. So we need to take action!
If we want anything we have to study that thing. Don’t leave it to chance. It doesn’t matter if it’s to lose weight, to be optimistic, to be the best programmer or to be brave.
Therefore, to have power, we’ll dedicate the next sessions to study how it works and what gives us power or that “ability to act”.
Once we have that power, success is simple; it’s just a matter of following this steps:
1. Know your outcome
Clarity is power.
Why do you want it?
2. Decide and take action
Decide that you’re not willing to settle for anything less than what you want.
Decision comes from latin “to cut off”, so cut off the possibility of not taking those actions.
3. Notice what you’re getting from you actions
Pay close attention to what you’re getting.
Are you moving towards your goal or not? How fast?
4. If it’s not working, change your approach
And keep changing it until you succeed.
How long will you give a baby to learn how to walk? We must apply that to ourselves too.
Use role modelling to accelerate this step. Someone has already walked that path or a very similar one. Find out what they did and model them.
Never leave the site of setting a goal or making a decision without taking some action toward its attainment.

👉 Assignment
STEP 1: Make two decisions
What are two decisions you’ve been putting off which, when you make them now, will change your life?
STEP 2: Take immediate action
What are three simple things you can do immediately that will be consistent with your two new decisions? Whom could you call? What could you commit to? What letter could you write? What could you do instead of your old behaviour?
I have made two decisions . (Step One)
(Step Two ) Keep a journal of actions each day. Post sticky notes on my bedroom door of data.
I know my outcome and I am taking action today to make changes. I will notice the changes from my actions through digital technology which will record progress. I will keep a journal and post sticky notes on my bedroom door for visual progress.
Congrats for taking action!
Now make sure you take notes on what you get from your actions and improve them so that they lead you towards your goals (journaling is a great tool for that). Keep it up!
